so i've mentioned the fact that i've got a new gig a few times in my blog recently, but i've remained fairly cryptic about the details. well, i'm finally allowed to say something about it, and let me tell you it had been several long weeks while i sat on the news. so without further ado, my new sponsor is:
because of their generous support, i can now concentrate on kde development full-time. in particular i'll be working on plasma and kde community activities, though i'll probably hack on the odd thing here and there as usual. there is just no way how i can overstate how cool this is for me; it's the fulfullment of a dream i've held for a couple of years now.
i will remain hq'd in calgary but i will be travelling a bit more to attend more conferences and giving presentations on occassion about qt and trolltech. you'll also see references to trolltech in my .sig and what not.
all i can say is: it feels more than a bit surreal and even more than a bit amazing. trolltech rocks =)

Congratulations Aaron! I'm happy for you and I'm happy for KDE that TT is sponsoring full time development time dedicated to KDE. Just great news.
Congratulations! Like Adam, I'm happy for you and KDE. And a big "Thank You" to Trolltech. With qualified full-time developers, I'm sure KDE will gain a lot :).
Well done, good to see the KDE devs attracting that sort of support :)
Yeah! Happy for you, just keep us as informed as you've kept us :D
Congratulations Aaron! And thank you TT!
Wow Aaron! This is great news. :) Congratulations!
Congratulations Aaron!
Will this also mean that you'll get to spend more time on Lyceum as well?

yes ... now instead of dragging myself in front of a screen of php and html at the end of a long day when my motivation is the lowest, i'll be able to tackle it whenever the spirit strikes. i actually did some work on it this week, so should finally have that puppy out for beta testing soon!
I can't honestly think of another developer who is so deserving of an opportunity to work on KDE full-time.
It's not just your ability to write code, but to do all the things necessary outside of that (Plasma, Lyceum, OSDW etc.) to support the code itself and to confront the difficult issues head-on. I can't think of many people at all who can do that in the whole world. When the history of KDE is written you'll be recognised as a huge pivot point in turning KDE around into the right direction(s).
A word of advice. I don't know what job you were doing before, but it seemed like quite a down-to-Earth IT job where you were doing all the mundane things you need to get done as well as working with lots of users. Now that you're working full-time on KDE you won't have as much access to that kind of environment, if at all. Please, don't lose touch with all that as I get the impression that many, many developers on open source projects do. It's a big mistake.
Way to go! Congrats, Aaron!
Nice Blog!!! I thought I'd tell you about a site that will let give you places where
you can make extra cash! I made over $800 last month. Not bad for not doing much. Just put in your
zip code and up will pop up a list of places that are available. I live in a small area and found quite
a few. MAKE MONEY NOW
Your Blog is Great! I'm definitely going to bookmark you! I have a work at home assemblers
site. It pretty much covers work at home assemblers
related stuff.
Come and check it out if you get time :-)
