i'm off on another half-day plane ride, this time to get to the ubuntu conference. while i'm there my birthday and father's day will pass (on the same day no less) and i'll also be missing a 'father and son' sports day with peyton at his school (it was supposed to be last week but it got rained out and they rescheduled it for a week i'm not here). needless to say this makes me feel a little less than great. oh well. they are just dates, symbols, right? *sigh*
i also spent most of this week writing documents. huzzah. necessary work, but also a bit more like work than coding is.
i did make one nice discovery this week: the upper right corner of the trackpad on this laptop simulates a middle mouse button click while the bottom right corner is a right click. very cool. now i don't have to press both buttons together to get a middle mouse button click, just tap that corner.
as an aside: shame on japan, iceland, norway, the kitt's islanders and the other peoples who are trying right now to overturn the international ban on whaling. truly poor showing. i'll be in norway next month, and i plan on bringing some appropriate t-shirts.

Have fun in Paris! Paige wants to know if you have time, could you take a picture or get a postcard of the Eiffel Tower? Thanks!
Hugs

What's wrong with a little whaling? Seriously, I don't know the exact condition of whale populations around the globe, but in areas where there is a healthy population, there's nothing wrong with hunting them.
So is your objection to it grounded in scientific and environmental reasoning or emotional knee jerking?
Just like the hunt for grizzly bears and such. I don't see the problem as long as populations remain healthy.
To the anonymous guy.. You admit you don't know about the whale populations, but see nothing wrong with violating internal bans. Do some study into this please.
About the upper right and bottom right corners of your trackpad... It's not the laptop but the synaptics driver I think that is doing the magic. This should work on any laptop.
Thanks for the tip for middle mouse clicking!Mine works too!
Much better :D
I read your blog regually for some news on kde.
I'm from Iceland and I think I know a little bit about this. First of all, whale is not just a whale, there are many species, some low populations but most in werry healthy populations.
About the ban it is not that simple, we can legally fish whale but we cant sell it out of Iceland
I recently found out that if you tap with 2 fingers, slightly apart, you get a middle click, 3 does a right click. No more loud clicking sounds from me.
